Nepenthes is a genus of carnivorous plants with many natural as well as cultivated hybrids found in Borneo. They're more commonly known as tropical pitcher plants or monkey cups, the latter name derived from the assumption of monkeys drinking rainwater from the pitchers. Numerous species that thrive in Sabah's rich rainforests are rare and endemic to the state. They're also considered protected here, therefore making it illegal to own or trade them.
